  1. Cyber-crime police arrests 3 for cheating innocent people

Hyderabad: Three persons from New Delhi were arrested by the City Cyber Crime Police on charges of cheating innocent people by collecting money from them on the pretext of providing loyalty points against matured insurance policies. The accused identified as Rishab Sharma (23), Ajay Kumar (20) and Arun Chowdary (20) of New Delhi, used to call people randomly claiming that they were calling from an insurance agency and would like to help them in availing the loyalty points against insurance policies that have expired.  They lured the victims to pay huge amounts.  After receiving money, the accused changed their mobile numbers and did not respond to the victims, said Detective Department DCP Avinash Mohanty.

“During the investigation, the team of cyber-crime analyzed the CDRs (Call Data Records) of mobile numbers of the accused and obtained details of beneficiary accounts, tracked the offenders in New Delhi. With strenuous efforts, they were arrested and brought to city on transit warrant. They would be taken into custody for further investigation,” said the DCP.

Cyber Security Tips:  Do not respond to unknown calls, make sure before paying money.

  1. Hackers hit Vietnam airports with South China Sea messages

Hackers attacked the website of a national airline and flight information screens at Vietnam’s two biggest airports on Friday, posting notices that state media said criticized the Philippines and Vietnam and their claims in the South China Sea. Operators of airports in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City briefly had to halt electronic check-ins when systems were attacked on Friday afternoon, the country’s civil aviation authority said. The website of Vietnam Airlines was also compromised, directing browsers to what the flag carrier described as “bad websites overseas”. Vietnam’s vice transport minister, Nguyen Nhat, said the content displayed by the hackers offended his nation and the Philippines, Thanh Nien news reported, without elaborating.

Cyber Security Tips:  Airlines need to check for more vulnerability existence and if found immediately patch it, also Vietnam need to improve their cyber security.
